Our Top 5 Pubs with Open Fires in London

Winter is coming......you want to be ready!

What better way to shield yourself from the elements by finding a cosy pub with an open fire. Here's Our Top 5 Pubs with Open Fires in London.

If you try any of these, we would love to hear your stories (if you can remember them!), so please do let us know. Either in the comments, twitter (@BarHopCousins) or barhopcousins@gmail.com.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese – Fleet Street, London

This Sam Smith's pub is my favourite winter pub, as I may have mentioned once or twice before. There's a huge fire place in the small ground floor bar. There's limited amount of seating in this bar but it's great! It's hard not to have a chat with the people sitting around you…so the place is very friendly and there's an amazing buzz. It's said to be London's oldest pub having been rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Charles Dickens is known to have sank a few gins in a tankard here….so you kind of feel you're drinking in his footsteps.

The Pineapple – Kentish Town, London

The Pineapple in Kentish Town is a wonderful cosy little pub away from the main street but can still get pretty busy. Don't let this put you off. There's a great vibe and atmosphere here…with a good selection of beers. If you're feeling hungry they also do amazing Thai food and there's a dining area at the back in the conservatory. Grab a seat near the fire and you won't want to move. They also have a selection of board games to keep you entertained.

Wenlock Arms – Old Street, London

This is my dad's local and I've been coming here since I was a baby! I've grown to love this pub over the years. Gone are the days when it was a dark and dingy old man's pub with sticky carpet. It's now bright and airy with wooden floors and a good mixture of friendly clientele of different ages and backgrounds. The bar staff are friendly too…there has been times when they've had our pints waiting for us on the bar as we walk in….now that's what we call service or we just that consistent?! The bar staff also have a great music taste playing songs from all different decades. The pub has a piano so you might be lucky enough to get some live music, as well as a sing-along.

Note: This picture doesn't do the fire place justice...I was just a bit embarrassed at the time of taking it.

The Holy Bush – Hampstead, London

This place was discovered by our Bar Hopping Uncle. As you walk towards the bar you will hear the floorboards creak which just adds to the old fashioned feel to this place. Our Uncle often reminds us that Jamie Oliver used to live in one of the houses opposite, people from the pub would knock on his door asking for a bacon sandwich…it was probably funny for him the first time….but he eventually moved out. Shame, because I really fancy a bacon sandwich whenever I go to this pub.

The Plough Inn – Northfields, London

This is my local and I've been coming here for about two years. This place has a great community feel to it and can be rather cosy around the fire. This being a Fullers pub you know you will get a wide selection of great tasting beer and good food. The bar staff are friendly and attentive.
