Our Top 5 Pub Crawls
Follow @barhopcousins
So here's our Top 5 pub crawls. We couldn't decide which order to put these in...so we didn't!
If you try any of these, we would love to hear your stories (if you can remember them!), so please do let us know. Either in the comments, twitter or barhopcousins@gmail.com.

Bristol Ferry
Not sure if this should count as a pub crawl because we
travelled between pubs by a small ferry. Perhaps a pub sail or float would be
more fitting. However, I think this is one of the most unique pub
"crawls" we've ever done and I strongly recommend it.
My cousin, a
local, was armed with the Bristol Ferry Timetable and a map.
We disembarked from the City Centre with our all day travel passes and we
managed to fit in 6 pubs and a pizza. My cousin calculated we could spend
30mins in each pub before getting the next ferry…this worked really well until
the seal had broken.
After ferrying it around Bristol we went on to Motion for the Rum
and Reggae Festival and then we finished the night in Turtle Bay for late
Happy Hour cocktails (it felt like a good idea at the time!).
The pubs – Bristol Beer Factory, The Pump House, Nova
Scotia, The Cottage, The Ostrich and The Barley Mow.
Food – Pi Shop
Tea Towel Challenge
So one day I was walking up Ealing Broadway and as I'm
passing a shop called All Original
I spot in the window a Tea Towel called – Ealing Pubs by Charlotte Berridge. I
promptly took a picture of it and sent it to my cousin, jokingly suggesting
that I would use this as a pub guide the next time he came to visit. He quickly
responded that we should take it with us to each pub and rate the establishment
out of five. What five points make an ideal pub? Answers on a postcard, please.
The tea towel features 14 pubs around Ealing so it was no
mean feat. As we're responsible drinkers we decided to do this over 24 hours.
There was shaky moment when we nearly quit when we reached the 13th
pub, we had to get to Camden for a family meal in an hour and the last pub was
about 30mins away on foot….but I implored that we can't quit now and we jumped
into an Uber and made it to the last pub on the tea towel….we were so glad we
did as this was one of the best pubs on the tea towel.
Charlotte has since created a tea towel for Chiswick
and a poster for Richmond
Pubs…so we're not going to be short of material for next couple of months.
The Ealing pubs – The New Inn W5, The Rose and Crown W5, The
Castle Inn W5, The North Star W5, The Red Lion W5, The Forester W13, The Wheatsheaf W5, The
Plough W5, The Grove W5, The Grosvenor W7, The Kings Arms W5, Ealing Park
Tavern W5, The Grange W5 and the The Duke Of Kent W13.
Food – Stir fried duck at home, chips and a curry…..not
all at the same time or even on the same day…maybe?!
CAMRA - Great British Beer Festival
This has to be the ultimate bar hop experience. So many bars
and breweries all under one roof in Olympia, London.
The pubs – over 30 bars to get through (not that we did!).
Food – Pork scratchings.
Historical London
There was something magical about this one. I imagined that
we were drinking in the footsteps of Charles Dickens and other famous authors.
Imaging how the areas must have looked in their time and the inspiration they
managed to gleam from it.
When you go to The George, look out for the Life
Insurance of Charles Dickens. Click here for a more detail account of the Historical
London pub crawl.
The pubs – The George SE1, The Dickens Inn, The Cockpit,
Punch tavern, The Old Bell, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, The Seven Stars, The
Lyceum, The Lamb & Flag.
Food – Borough Market
Our first pub crawl
Our first official pub crawl started in Bristol. I think this is one of the most underrated cities in the
UK. Most people will go to Bath but just up the
road you've got Bristol…a city filled with culture and trivia…and of course
plenty of pubs!
We posted a blog on our first bar hop to Bristol, which is so detailed
we had split it into two parts. Some of our antics on this bar hop still makes us blush…so be warned….Part 1 and Part 2.
The pubs – Zero Degrees, King William, Royal Navy, The Llandogger
Trowl, The Old Duke, The Crown and The
Cornubia.
Food – Chips.
Stay classy and thanks for stopping by.
